Wildlife Fatality Estimator


Bird and bat mortality estimation caused by collision has crucial importance in wind farms’ surveys. Bio3 developed, in partnership with PhD Regina Bispo (ISPA-Instituto Universitário e CEAUL-Centro de Estatística e Aplicações da Universidade de Lisboa), the “Wildlife Fatality Estimator”, a totally free online application which will help users to properly apply the existing methodologies and correctly estimate the mortality rate associated to human infrastructures.

The application is divided into 3 sections:
  • Carcass Persistence - Application module devoted to the estimation of the carcass persistence probability;
  • Search Efficiency - Application module devoted to the estimation of the detection probability (under development);
  • Fatality Estimation - Application module devoted to the final fatality estimation (under development).
