Participation in the PWEA 2012 (Warsaw, Poland)
The VIIth PWEA Conference & Exhibition – the largest wind energy event in Poland as well as Central and Eastern Europe - took placed on the 22nd-23rd of May, in Warsaw, and attracted approximately 700 attendees including 43 Exhibitors.

The Polish renewable energy sector currently faces a unique moment. The Ministry of Economy will soon present the final draft of the Renewable Energy Sources (RES) Act; the new law will determine green energy development in the country for the next years.

In this context and included on the “Human, the environment and social dialogue” session, Bio3 presented the Malhanito Wind Farm project, located in the south of Portugal, as a “Good practice” example for wind power investments implemented in Natura 2000 sites. In order to off-site mitigate and compensate the potential impact of the wind farm on the endangered Bonelli’s eagle population, Bio3 has developped a plan to promote and recover the European rabbit populations exclusively through habitat management techniques, inside the local Bonelli eagle’s home range, but away from the wind farm. The compensation plan is being developed between 2011 and 2014.
