Biologist dog's peer-reviewed scientific paper publication

Biologist dog's peer-reviewed scientific paper publication
The scientific paper that Bio3 has recently published about the biologist-dog was published in Vo. 19, n. 4 of Journal for Nature Conservation (impact factor of 1.545 in 2010).

This paper is a Biologist-dog project's milestone. This R&D project was initialized by Bio3 a few years ago with the aim of developing a highly efficient and scientifically validate service for the detection of Bird and Bat carcasses at wind farms and power lines. In 2005 Bio3 read that a dog had been used at a Wind Farm in the USA for the detection of Bat carcasses. After establishing a few contacts with institutions outside Portugal, during 2006 Bio3 decided to contact the K9 Unit of the Portuguese Police.  The negotiation period was quite long and in March 2008 a cooperation protocol was signed between both parties. The project started one month after.

At this stage Bio3 has started another stage of this research line which will produce more scientific papers.
